Oak framed extensions
When you want to add something really stunning to your current house, few choices compete with bespoke oak framed extensions handcrafted by Carpenter Oak & Woodland. Whether you want more living space, to extend a room outwards, or have the perfect home office, we can create something that’s exactly right. Timber uniquely compliments most building materials and styles – either fitting in seamlessly with your current home or contrasting with it in an exciting or interesting way.
Or maybe you’re looking for more light in your extension. If so we take a look at our garden rooms and oak framed conservatories for more information. Or maybe you’d like an oak framed extension with a glazed gable or something totally different – either way we can create a bespoke oak framed extension that makes the perfect addition to your home.
We handcraft both single and double storey oak framed extensions and we are happy to advise on what type or extension is the perfect fit for your home.
Oak and douglas fir
We normally use oak for the majority of our oak framed extensions and timber framed houses as oak is durable and adds as beautiful character, however we also use glulam and douglas fir. Douglas fir is rather popular in Scotland where it is naturally occurring and part of the landscape. If you are looking for a douglas fir extension take a look at our Scotland gallery for some inspiration.
Extensions of any sort often bring up the question of planning permission. The rules of planning permissions and extensions are complicated however some extensions, garden rooms and oak framed conservatories do not need planning permission under the permitted development act. For more information on planning permission on what is and isn’t allowed read our blog.
