Combining oak framed house with glass and steel

Project profile

A contemporary oak framed house in West Sussex, just a few miles outside Chichester. This project demonstrates perfectly that oak framed houses don’t have to fit the norm. The mixture of timber with stainless steel bracing, glass and big open rooms creates a fabulous sense of space and yet avoids the trap of being clinical and utilitarian because of the warmth the frame brings to the building. The oak house is built on a two and half acre plot previously occupied by a rather dated 1960’s timber clad building with views of Bosham harbour.
