A oak framed house in Oxfordshire

Project profile

Mr and mrs Nixey found a plot with an existing bungalow 15 years ago – their dream was to always knock down the too small bungalow and replaced with an oak framed house set in Oxfordshire countryside.

The couple contacted a local architect, Bernard Smith and plans were put in place to build this two storey oak clad barn style house. Because the owners lived in the bungalow onsite it meant they were able project manage the build themselves and were able to keep to their £250,000 budget.

The reason they chose an oak framed house was because they loved the look and feel of oak and the character it brought to the property. The build itself went very smoothly and the owners are so delighted with their oak framed house in Oxfordshire they would consider a self build project again!

The owners said: “Right from the start Carpenter Oak and Woodland gave us the right advice we were able to go through the drawings with them in detail.  We were able to visit some of your previous Oak frame projects and come to your premises to meet the team.  The team who came and erected the frame were excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed having them on site.”
