When Windsor Castle tragically caught fire in 1992, the charred main beams were the only part of the kitchen’s lantern roof to survive.
The restoration of Windsor provided a interesting challenge. Prior to rebuilding the roof, with its complex design, ornate spandrels and decorative carvings, we first began by researching historical diagram’s to ascertain what had been lost in the fire. Fortunately for Carpenter Oak & Woodland, we are privileged to employ some of the most respected and knowledgeable specialists in the industry. After months of painstaking work restoring the roof, we think the results speak for themselves.
The Worshipful Company of Carpenters Special Award was given ‘in recognition of the outstanding achievement in the restoration, recreation, new design and quality of craftsmanship at Windsor Castle’.
